Catch Up!

Since November and December are always so crazy with the holidays I decided not to post any new books until the new year.

If you find time to read in the next few months, hopefully you will pick one of the books you missed, or didn't quite finish.

Let us know what you read and what you thought of it.

Happy Holidays!

  1. I plan on eventually getting around to reading some of these books. Hopefully things will settle down a little. I did love the Scarlet Letter in high school and would really love to read it again. Thanks for giving ideas for new reads. I love it!

  2. Awesome! I have read the Scarlet Letter, Part of Annie Between the States, and I am most of the way through Home. I am listening to "Home" as an audio book read by the author Julie Andrews- - it is awesome! I especially love having it read by her- it is hearing her childhood and early career experiences directly from her. I will post more of my thoughts about the book after I finish it.

  3. Becky, I'm so glad you are loving "Home". I'll have to find it on CD and listen to it. It would add that much more to the Julie Andrews experience. I found myself thinking about Janine a ton while reading it. She would have loved it!

  4. So true- Janine would have loved it. Julie Andrews does such an amazing job of describing her life in it's richness - - from her rather rough childhood (with her parent's divorce, drunkeness on her parent's part and more) to her beginnings on broadway with My Fair Lady and Camelot. After reading about her friendship with Carol Burnett- I found myself searching for some of their performances at Carnegie Hall on You Tube - - so entertaining! Anyway- I think it is interesting at how at such a young age she felt responsible for her family, and even took over ownership of their home- - I think before she was even twenty. I now have such a respect for the amount of effort and hard work that she did throughout her life- first to support her family, and then for her career. It was nice to end with the birth of her daughter and going off to California to start on Mary Poppins. Being a huge Disney fan, it was fun to read her thoughts on meeting with Walt Disney, and the Disney Company.

Definitely a good read (or "listen" if you are like me and listened to it on CD).
